Every day it is becoming difficult for people to live in Gaza, devastated by the war between Israel and Hamas. Seeing the scene of devastation in Gaza, rapper Abel Tesfaye aka The Weeknd has come forward to help. Rapper The Weeknd has announced $2.5 million from his XO Humanitarian Fund to aid the World Food Program’s humanitarian response in Gaza.
“This conflict has caused a humanitarian catastrophe,” said Corinne Fleischer, WFP director for the Middle East, North Africa and Eastern Europe region. “WFP is working around the clock to provide assistance in Gaza, but larger scale work is needed to address the catastrophic levels of hunger we are seeing.”
“Our teams need safe and sustained humanitarian access and continued support from donors to reach as many people as possible,” said Corinne Fleisher. “We thank Abel for this valuable contribution to the people of Palestine. We hope others will follow Abel’s example and support our efforts,” Korin said.
Many social media users have reacted to this news. “I’m so proud of you for all the families you’re helping, you’re an angel,” one wrote. Another said, “Somehow you have stolen my heart. The things you do outside of your music are admirable, you have only love in your heart for others.”
