Big success for Indian Navy, successfully launched BrahMos from warship in Bay of Bengal

Indian Navy has successfully fired BrahMos missile. The Navy conducted this firing of BrahMos in the Bay of Bengal on Wednesday, 1 November. BrahMos missile has been deployed on many destroyers of the Navy. BrahMos missiles are also deployed in the Navy’s Nilgiri, Shivalik and Talwar class frigates. The Navy has also released a photo related to the test conducted on Wednesday.

Defense experts believe that BrahMos is the world’s fastest supersonic cruise missile. It has been developed jointly by India and Russia. Its name has been kept by combining the names of Brahmaputra and Moskva rivers. This missile can hit from water, land to sky.

It is noteworthy that recently the third stealth destroyer warship with Guided Missile Destroyer has been handed over to the Indian Navy. This warship, handed over on Friday, October 20, is equipped with surface to surface supersonic ‘BrahMos’ missile and medium range surface to air ‘Barak-8’ missile. Equipped with BrahMos missile, the warship is fitted with indigenously developed anti-submarine weapons and sensors for underwater warfare, mainly Hull Mounted Sonar Humsa NG, Heavy Weight Torpedo Tube Launcher and Rocket Launcher.

According to the Defense Ministry, the ship was constructed from indigenous steel DMR 249A. It is one of the biggest destroyers of India. Its total length is 164 meters and displacement capacity is more than 7500 tonnes. The ship is a powerful platform capable of undertaking a wide variety of tasks and missions spanning the full spectrum of maritime warfare.
