Police said a young man died on Wednesday due to head injury due to a bomb blast, when he was being taken to Guwahati Hospital for treatment via Mizoram.
A police officer said that another person injured in Wednesday firing died on Thursday in Churachandpur District Hospital, where he was undergoing treatment.
Defense sources said that in quick and effective response, the Army’s quick action team thwarted the incident of arson attempt near Limakhong on Thursday evening.
An army contingent near Chingmang village saw flames and smoke coming out of an empty house. Without delay, the employees came into action and installed a safe circle around the area.
Within a few minutes of the incident, three waterfalls of the army reached the bowled place, and the fire was controlled and extinguished.
Meanwhile, a search operation is also being carried out to capture the people involved in arson attempt.
A defense spokesperson said, “The speed of the army was prevented from burning the house and spreading flames to neighboring houses.”
A statement by the Manipur Police said that it is being aired on various social media that Lonfi, Khausabung, Kangwai and Suganu areas are being attacked, and clarified that there has been no such incident in Kangwai and Suganu.
However, there was a firing in Lonefi and Khausabung. Security forces deployed in the area responded and later the firing decreased. It states that the situation is tense but under control.
A separate police statement said that 20 bombs, three looted weapons, 20 different types of ammunition were recovered from Churachandpur during the search operation.
