The country is celebrating 77th Independence Day today. On this occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort. In his address, he talked about Manipur. PM Modi said that there was a period of violence in Manipur in the past. Played with the honor of mother and daughters. Although he took the name of Manipur in his address, he once again talked about here and there. Along with Manipur, he also named other parts of the country.
PM Modi said, “For a few weeks there was a period of violence in the North East, especially in Manipur, in some other parts of India as well, but especially in Manipur. Many people had to lose their lives. Played with the honor of mothers and daughters. But for a few days, news of peace is coming continuously. The country is with the people of Manipur. May the festival of peace carry forward the peace that the people of Manipur have maintained over the past few days. Peace will find its way out. The state and the central government are working together to solve those problems and will continue to do so.
Earlier, during the monsoon session, the opposition kept demanding continuous discussion on Manipur in the Parliament, but the government did not get ready directly. Throughout the Monsoon Session, the Opposition in the House created a ruckus on the Manipur issue and demanded that PM Modi come to the House and make a statement on Manipur, but Modi did not turn up to make a statement. Eventually, the opposition had to bring a no-confidence motion so that Manipur could be discussed and PM Modi was forced to come to the right house.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi came to the House on the last day of the no-confidence motion. He did not mention Manipur by name even once in his initial one and a half hour speech. During his speech, he kept on laughing, sometimes targeting the Congress and sometimes the India coalition. After one and a half hour, he spoke on Manipur for two minutes. And even today he did not talk about Manipur directly from the ramparts of the Red Fort. He also added other parts of the country along with it.
