Shagun Saini, an MBBS student, died by suicide in the hostel of Begrajpur Medical College in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh. On Monday evening, her body was found hanging in her room. The door was locked from the inside. When the door could not be opened despite repeated attempts, her roommate looked inside through a window and discovered the situation. The college administration was then informed. Upon receiving the information, the police arrived at the scene, broke open the door, and entered the room. No suicide note was found at the scene.
The incident took place at the Begrajpur Medical College hostel. Shagun Saini, a native of Kaithal, Haryana, was a final-year MBBS student at the medical college. She shared a hostel room with her roommate, Jiya.
According to the police, Shagun had returned to her room on Monday evening; her roommate, Jiya, was not present at the time. When Jiya returned around 8:30 PM, she found the door locked from the inside. She tried to get the door opened, but there was no response from within. Jiya then looked into the room through a window and saw Shagun’s body hanging. Distressed, she immediately alerted the college administration, who in turn informed the police. The police arrived at the scene shortly thereafter.
