Rodri played all eight matches for Spain and delivered an exceptional performance throughout the tournament. He recorded the highest number of successful passes, covered the greatest distance, and had the most touches on the ball. His precise passing and seamless coordination between defense and attack played a pivotal role in Spain’s victory. In the final, Rodri completed 101 out of 105 passes, won 80 percent of his duels, and created two goal-scoring opportunities. His intelligent play in supporting the defenders was instrumental in Spain conceding only one goal across the eight matches.
He has become only the 11th player in football history to win the World Cup, the UEFA Champions League, and the Ballon d’Or. Having won the Ballon d’Or in 2024, he has now added the World Cup ‘Golden Ball’ to his accolades; he had previously also won the award for the best player at the European Championship. Fellow Spaniard Pau Cubarsí was named ‘Young Player of the Tournament,’ while goalkeeper Unai Simón claimed the ‘Golden Glove’ award after keeping seven clean sheets.
