NEET aspirant from Nagpur allotted exam centre nearly 2500 km away from home in Abu Dhabi

The National Testing Agency (NTA) does provide exam centers abroad, but these are usually intended for NRIs and international students. However, it is surprising that this happened to a student from Nagpur.

NEET Re-Exam: नागपुर के स्टूडेंट को अबूधाबी में मिला, राहुल गांधी बोले- ‘NTA को परीक्षा करवाने का कोई हक नहीं

The NEET re-examination is scheduled to take place nationwide on June 21. More than 2.2 million students are preparing to head to their respective centers for the exam. Amidst this, Abdullah Mohammed from Nagpur is deeply distressed; his exam center has been assigned to Abu Dhabi. He is worried about how he is expected to take the exam abroad when he previously took it within the country—and he does not even possess a passport for international travel. The anxious family immediately contacted the NTA helpline to report the issue. They were informed that the error occurred inadvertently and would be rectified.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the NTA stated that action is being taken regarding the student’s complaint. Following the necessary verification, a center in Nagpur will be allotted to the candidate within a few hours.

How will Abdul reach the Abu Dhabi exam center?

With only one day remaining before the NEET re-exam, his assigned center—Abu Dhabi Indian School—has not yet been changed. The family was so concerned that they even began looking into travel documents and flight bookings, fearing the center might not be altered. His parents were worried about the tight timeframe for completing passport formalities and booking flights. Despite the difficulties, they are still considering sending him to Abu Dhabi so he does not miss the chance to take the exam. The hall ticket issued on June 14 had listed Abu Dhabi Indian School as the student’s exam center.

Stress before the re-exam, now anxiety over the exam center

While the National Testing Agency (NTA) does provide exam centers abroad, these are typically intended for NRI and international students. It is surprising that this has happened to a student from Nagpur. Talib was already under stress following the NEET paper leak incident and had not fully recovered from that shock. Now, the error on the hall ticket has further compounded his distress. The family stated that they remain in constant contact with the NTA helpline.

NTA acknowledges technical glitch, but admit card remains unchanged

Abdullah’s parents informed the NTA about this error. The NTA acknowledged a technical glitch and promised to issue a new, localized admit card. However, even a day before the exam, the student has not received the new admit card. This incident has exposed the disarray in the agency’s operations. The student and their family are still waiting for the new admit card.
