18 People Present in the Building

According to reports, a total of 18 people were inside the building at the time the fire broke out; some managed to save their lives by jumping from the upper floors. However, as the only exit route was engulfed in flames, many people became trapped inside. Preliminary information suggested that several individuals were feared trapped following the outbreak of the fire, prompting the launch of a rescue operation. Multiple fire tenders rushed to the scene and have been actively engaged in relief and rescue operations.

What Did the Fire Department Say?

The Fire Department has provided details regarding the blaze that engulfed a building in the Palam area of ​​South-West Delhi. According to the information released, a distress call was received regarding a fire in a residential unit within a building located in Lane No. 2, near the Palam Metro Station, with fears that some people might be trapped inside. Thirty fire tenders were dispatched to the scene, and firefighting and rescue operations are currently underway. The Fire Department received the call at 7:00 AM, and efforts to extinguish the fire are continuing.

CM Rekha Orders Magisterial Inquiry

CM Rekha Gupta has also taken cognizance of the fire incident at the building in Palam, Delhi. She has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the matter. Writing on her official X handle, Rekha Gupta stated: “I am deeply distressed to learn about the unfortunate fire incident at the building in Palam. Some people are still trapped inside the building. The District Administration, the Delhi Fire Services Department, and the Delhi Police are leading the rescue operations. A magisterial inquiry has been ordered to investigate the incident. Praying for the safety of everyone.”
