In the 23 years since the formation of Uttarakhand state, 37 thousand people have been registered missing in different police stations of Uttarakhand. Of these, about 10 and a half thousand are only minor children. Of these, 5 and a half thousand are boys and about 4 thousand 9 hundred are girls.

If we talk about those who are being searched, till now the police has been able to search only 32 thousand people. Even today, more than 5 thousand people are missing in the state. Whose disappearance is gathering dust in the police stations. About 500 minor children are also included in these.

To find all these, DGP Ashok Kumar has once again launched Operation Smile. In this campaign that will last for two months, efforts will be made to find all the missing people. In this campaign, four teams have been formed in Dehradun, Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar, Nainital and 26 teams along with other districts to search for the missing.

Four constables along with one sub inspector have been appointed in each team of Uttarakhand Smile Policing. These teams will also visit shelter homes, dhabas, factories, bus stands, railway stations and religious places to search for the missing and verify the people present there.

Meanwhile, in this matter, DGP Ashok Kumar says that Operation Smile has been going on in the state for the last 6 years. In which about 4 thousand missing people have been searched and reunited with their families. It is hoped that this time too this operation will help more and more people reach their loved ones.
