Four people were killed and two seriously injured in a collision between a car and a pickup van on the Pilibhit-Sitapur highway in Uttar Pradesh. The dead include three women. The injured have been admitted to hospital.
All the passengers belonged to the same family and were going to Nainital for a holiday. According to reports, the accident happened when the driver of the car, Abdullah, fell asleep. The deceased have been identified as Abdullah, Batool, Maryam and Saima.
The car was badly damaged after the accident. Somehow everyone was taken out. But by then Abdullah, Batul, Maryam and Saima had died. Whereas Abia and Amin were seriously injured. The police immediately took the injured to the hospital. It is being told that Abdullah was an engineer at Fatima Hospital in Lucknow. He was married only two years back.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief over the incident and directed officials to provide necessary assistance to the survivors and families.
