हिमाचल के मंडी में अचानक आई बाढ़ से भीषण तबाही, 3 लोगों की मौत

Three people were killed, over 20 vehicles were buried and several houses were flooded in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi town on Monday night due to flash floods triggered by a cloudburst, officials said on Tuesday.

The rain was so heavy that a huge amount of debris, carried by the strong currents in the drains passing through the city, spread over an area of about five kilometres. Due to this, the areas of Jail Road, Saini Mohalla and Zonal Hospital were the worst affected.

Mandi Deputy Commissioner Apurv Devgan said that three people died, one is injured and a woman is missing. He said that the rescue operation is going on on a war footing and about 15-20 people have been rescued.

The road near ‘Char Mile’, ‘Nau Mile’ and Dwada on the Chandigarh-Manali National Highway was washed away, due to which the highway has been closed in these areas.

This recent disaster has further increased the troubles of the people and administration of Mandi district. About a month ago, 15 people lost their lives in Seraj, Nachan, Dharampur and Karsog assembly constituencies due to torrential rains on the intervening night of June 30 and July 1.

Meanwhile, landslides caused by incessant rains have also blocked the Shimla-Mataur National Highway at Old Kangra Ghat and complaints of uprooted trees and disruption of power supply have been reported from many parts of the state.

The Meteorological Department local office had issued an ‘Orange Alert’ of heavy to very heavy rains in different areas. Heavy rain warnings were issued in Kangra, Mandi and Kullu districts on Tuesday.

Apart from this, a ‘Yellow Alert’ of heavy rain has been issued in Chamba, Shimla and Sirmaur districts on Tuesday and at some places in Una, Kangra, Mandi and Kullu districts on Wednesday.
