A two-storey house in Chartan Lodge area of Mallital, Nainital in Uttarakhand was hit by a landslide and collapsed. It is fortunate that there was no loss of life in this accident. The house was evacuated in time. After the collapse of the house due to landslide, cracks have appeared in the nearby houses and the houses have become crooked, due to which panic has spread in the entire area.
One reason for this landslide is also being considered to be the ongoing encroachment removal campaign in the area, in which heavy driller machines including JCB are being used. The administration and police are also making announcements to vacate the houses under threat. The administration is making living arrangements for the affected families and putting tarpaulins in the landslide area to prevent water leakage.
