A horrific road accident took place in Jharkhand’s Deoghar on Tuesday morning, in which 18 pilgrims have died so far. More than a dozen people were seriously injured in this accident.

Jharkhand: A tragic road accident has taken place in Deoghar, Jharkhand during the ongoing Kavad Yatra for Baba Baidyanath Dham in Deoghar. A bus full of Kanwariyas and a truck collided near Jamunia Chowk on the Deoghar-Basukinath main road. According to the information, 18 Kanwariyas have died in this accident, while dozens have been seriously injured. The death toll is also expected to increase.
This heart-wrenching accident happened when the devotees were moving towards Baba Baidyanath Dham with the chants of ‘Bol Bam’. This horrific collision has sent a wave of mourning across the area. The police is investigating the matter and trying to find out the cause of the accident.
Relief and rescue work continues
As soon as the incident was reported, teams of local administration, police and ambulance immediately reached the spot and started relief and rescue work. All the injured have been admitted to various hospitals and primary health centers in Deoghar, where they are undergoing treatment. The district administration is engaged in relief work on a war footing.
MP Nishikant Dubey expressed grief
Local MP Nishikant Dubey expressed deep grief over this incident and tweeted, ’18 devotees have died due to an accident between a bus and a truck during the Kanwar Yatra in the month of Shravan in Deoghar of my Lok Sabha. May Baba Baidyanath Ji give strength to their families to bear the grief.’
