तमिलनाडु में जबरदस्त सड़क हादसा, दो सरकारी बसों की टक्कर में 12 लोगों की मौत, 40 से ज़्यादा घायल

An accident occurred on Sunday in Tamil Nadu’s Sivaganga district, shaking the entire area. Two buses collided head-on near Kungamuguri, a collision so severe that the road was filled with screams. Twelve people died on the spot and more than 40 were injured. Many passengers were trapped inside the bus, and police and local residents struggled to rescue them.

The incident occurred Sunday evening when two buses were traveling from opposite directions on a narrow road. Suddenly, they collided head-on, severely damaging both buses. Hearing a loud noise, nearby residents rushed to the scene and began pulling out the injured by breaking windows and doors. Some passengers lay unconscious, others screamed in pain, and the entire scene was horrific.

According to the police, it’s unclear whether the accident was caused by overspeeding, poor visibility, or driver fatigue, but initial indications point to these factors. The injured were immediately rushed to hospitals in Sivaganga and Karaikudi, where the condition of several passengers remains critical. Many have suffered fractures, head injuries, and serious injuries.

This accident has once again highlighted the serious problem of increasing road accidents in Tamil Nadu. In the past few months, the number of road accidents has steadily increased in districts like Trichy, Salem, and Villupuram. Just a few days ago, six people were killed in a collision between two private buses in Tenkasi. This is why people are now questioning: when will these road deaths stop?

Statistics show that Tamil Nadu recorded over 67,000 road accidents in 2023, the highest for any state in India and accounting for approximately 14 percent of the country’s total. Road safety campaigns are periodically conducted in the state. Although the number of accidents has decreased in 2025, the trend of accidents continues unabated.

Last month, a bus traveling to Sabarimala collided with a railing in a similar manner, injuring several passengers. Following this latest accident in Sivaganga, there are renewed demands for increased monitoring of government buses, regular health checks for drivers, and prompt repair of damaged roads. Police have launched an investigation into the matter.
